Mary Ellen Wheeler: A 4th generation McKenzie Resident who grew up in the logging woods and floating the beautiful McKenzie River. Mary Ellen raised her four boys on the river. Owned a business in Blue River and worked in upper management for 35+ years.
Cliff Richardson: Cliff was born and raised on the McKenzie River. Cliff spent his time hunting, fishing and working in the timber industry as a timber faller, logger and forester. Cliff has been married to Connie for 47 years and the two of them raised four boys on the river. Cliff owned and operated a construction and logging business but retired as Science teacher and athletic director from the McKenzie School District. He is a lifelong member of the booster club as well as community coach. Cliff volunteers with the McKenzie Watershed Council, McKenzie River Trust, and McKenzie Schools and enjoys contributing to other local projects.
Steve Schaefers: Moved to the McKenzie River in 1970, in 1979 purchased the Dave Helfrich house. Steve has been a fishing guide since 1972, he was president of the McKenzie River Guides Association and in partnership with McKenzie Masters, introduced the life jacket program. Steve was 2019 McKenzie River Man of the year, recognized for his contributions to the community.
Jeanne Fager: Moved to the McKenzie River in 1989, started working at the Holiday Farm as a bartender. Currently, owns the office and manages McKenzie Riverside Cottages, previously known as the Holiday Farm.
Deborah Willhite: Moved to the McKenzie River in 1987, raising her children here. Deborah was a volunteer at the McKenzie Schools, as well as a school board member. She has been serving the communities real estate needs for over 30 years. Deborah is a real estate broker and owner/operator of Willhite Real Estate.
John Shama: Moved to the McKenzie River in 1985. John was a mortgage broker and involved in real estate investments. John is currently retired.
Lacey Joy: Lacey is a second-generation McKenzie River resident living on the river for 35 years. She graduated from McKenzie High School and has been working for the McKenzie School District for 16 years. She is married to a local business owner and has two sons who attend McKenzie schools. Lacey is involved in local non-profits, serving as the Treasurer for the McKenzie River Community School and the Treasurer for the McKenzie River Food Pantry.
Melanie Brite: Moved to the McKenzie River in 1992, at that time Melanie’s parents purchased the Meyers General Store. Melanie has been operating the store since her mom passed away in 2000. A Blue River resident for 29 years. Currently, Melanie serves on the Blue River Water Board, Park Board, Vice Chair of the McKenzie River Community School board and on the Upper McKenzie Fire and Rescue Board of Directors. She volunteers at the McKenzie Schools in the classroom and sports program.
